Note: Pliny says that Sostratos was the student of Pythagoras (Pliny: XXXIV.xix.60) but the dates of the two artists do not correspond well; he may have been referring to a different sculptor of the same name and not to the Sostratos who was the son of painter and sculptor Euphranor. |
