Ramey, Claude (French sculptor, 1754-1838)
|
Note: Ramey won the Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1738 and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1793 to 1827. He produced many portrait busts and statues, such as the marble statue of Eugène de Beauharnais. Some of his works were of Classical subjects, such as his marble statue of Sappho (1801). Among his notable public commissions was the marble low relief of the View of Austerlitz for the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel in Paris; he was also responsible for sculpted decorations for the Louvre, the Palais du Luxembourg, and other public buildings. |
