Ducros, Louis (Swiss painter and printmaker, 1748-1810)

Note: Known for his topographical landscapes, especially of Italian views and ruins. Ducros was part of a generation of foreign painters working in Italy who broke with the traditions of the Italian 'vedutisti.' His work was influential for a younger generation of British watercolor artists, including J. M. W. Turner, who knew Sir Richard Colt Hoare's collection of Ducros watercolors.
