Note: The county commune of Storstrøm was located in the southernmost part of Denmark, covering southeastern Zealand and several other smaller islands, covering some 1311 square miles in area. It was created in 1970 from the former counties of Maribo and Præstø. The land is fertile and mixed farming and dairying were major economic activities, plus fishing and meat processing. The 2004 estimated population was 261,400. In 2007, all counties in Denmark were eliminated and five large regions created. |
