Note: Area of east-central Europe; was formerly a principality that was centered around twin towns of Cieszyn (in present day Poland), and Češký Těšín (in present-day Czech Republic). It was divided after World War I, and became a contested area between both countries until 1945, when Poland attempted to claim Teschen in its entirety. This was halted by the Soviet Union, and it went back to a prior border. |
