Note: Territory annexed by the Roman emperor Augustus and later expanded by Domitian. Domitian made the southernmost parts of Gallia Belgica into the separate province of Germania Superior. It bordered southern Gaul and Noricum in the east. Mainz was the capital of the province. The Romans abandoned the area ca. 451 CE. |
