Note: Colony located in what is now part of present-day Somalia, which fell under Italian control by 1893 until 1936. Integrated into Italian East Africa from 1936-1941. From 1941, it was under British military administration to 1949, after which it became a United Nations "trust territory" under Italian governance. Merged with the State of Somaliland (formerly British Somaliland) in 1960 to become the Somali Republic. |
