Abbasid Caliphate (historical region)

Note: Was located in N Africa, the Mediterranean, and S Europe; established in 749 by the Caliph As-Saffah, although Al-Mansur is regarded as the real founder. Al-Mansur established Baghdad in 762-763; the ruled the Muslim world between 7th and 9th centuries; capital was Baghdad; destroyed by Mongol invasions of 1258.
