Note: A lightened or whitish area in layer of paint or varnish layer due to microscopic defects (voids, granules, etc.) that develop within a film layer as it ages. The defects can scatter light making the affected area appear lighter than the surrounding areas. It is distinguished from bloom, which is a surface phenomenon.

Dutch ..... Een melkachtig uiterlijk van hars- of olie-achtige vliesjes ontstaat na het aanbrengen van een oplosmiddel. Te onderscheiden van 'waas' dat algemeen wordt gebruikt om aan te geven dat allerlei oppervlakken er anders zijn gaan uitzien als gevolg van de inwerking van waterdamp of vocht uit de atmosfeer. 
Spanish ..... Apariencia lechosa de películas resinosas u oleosas tras la aplicación de un solvente. Distinto de "florecimiento" que es usado en general para describir la apariencia alterada de numerosas superficies por la introducción de vapor de agua o humedad desde la atmósfera.
