Note: Refers to an azimuthal projection typically used in map-making and depicting the sphere of the Earth or other heavenly body where the point of sight is at the center and the plane of projection passes through one of the polar circles. It is typcially limited to 10 or 15 degrees from the pole; parallels of latitude are concentric circles and meridians are radiating straight lines.

Verwijst naar een azimutale projectie die algemeen wordt gebruikt in de cartografie en waarmee de bol van de aarde of een ander hemellichaam wordt weergegeven, waarbij het gezichtpunt op het middelpunt ligt en het projectievlak samenvalt met een van de poolcirkels. De projectie heeft doorgaans een maximaal bereik van 10 of 15 graden van de pool; de parallellen zijn concentrische cirkels en de meridianen zijn uitwaaierende rechte lijnen. |
| Spanish ..... Refiere a una proyección azimutal usada típicamente en cartografía y representa la esfera de la tierra o del otro cuerpo donde el punto de la vista es el centro y el plano de la proyección pasa con uno de los círculos polares. Los paralelos de la latitud son círculos concéntricos y los meridianos están irradiando líneas rectas.
La proyección polar se define por que los meridianos son líneas rectas y la distancia entre paralelos disminuye según nos alejamos del centro. |
