Note: Members of an order containing around 530 species in eight living families of true rays and skates, which are flat-bodied cartilaginous fishes related to sharks, having eyes on top of head, ventral gills, and greatly enlarged pectoral fins extending forward along gill opening to attach to sides of head and in some even meet in front of head. They swim by creating wavelike motions with these pectoral fins.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 含約五百三十種，歸於八個現存屬的魟魚與鰩魚；魟魚與鰩魚為與鯊魚有親緣關係的軟骨魚，牠們的身形扁平，眼睛位於頭頂，且具有腹鰓。擴大的胸鰭沿著鰓裂向前延伸，與頭部兩側連接；部份魚種的胸鰭甚至延伸至頭部前方相連。牠們利用胸鰭做出波浪般的動作，在水中游動。 |
