Note: Farm buildings, generally of the 17th to early 19th century, where dairy products are made and stored, usually supervised by country ladies. Distinguished from "dairy plants" by their lack of mechanization. For subsidiary agricultural buildings devoted primarily to the care of milk, whether mechanized or not, prefer "milk houses."

| Dutch ..... Wordt gebruikt voor boerderijgebouwen, waar melkproducten worden gemaakt en bewaard, meestal onder leiding van de boerinnen. Te onderscheiden van 'zuivelfabrieken' door de afwezigheid van mechanisatie. Gebruik 'melkhuizen' voor bijkomstige gebouwen voor de landbouw die worden gebruikt voor de verwerking van melk, al of niet geautomatiseerd. |
| German ..... Bauernhof, in der Regel typisch für die Entwicklung zwischen dem 17. und dem frühen 19. Jhdt., auf dem Molkereiprodukte, üblicherweise unter Aufsicht der Hausherrin, hergestellt und gelagert wurden. Im Gegensatz zu einer modernen "Molkerei" sind hier die Arbeitsprozesse noch nicht mechanisiert. Die Bezeichnung für ein landwirtschaftliches Gebäude mit der primär unterstützenden Aufgabe, die Milch dort zu lagern, heißt "Milchkeller" oder "Milchkammer". |
| Spanish ..... Úsese para designar un edificio de granja, generalmente de los siglos XVII y principios del XIX, donde los productos lácteos eran fabricados y almacenados, por lo general bajo la supervisión de las señoras de la región. Se diferencia de "planta lechera" por su falta de mecanización. Para edificios agrícolas subsidiarios, dedicados principlamente al cuidado de la leche, mecanizados o no, prefiera "lechería". |
