Note: Shrines that are small in size and intended for personal use. Included are personal shrines for traditional ritual and religious devotional purposes, dating from ancient through modern times in many cultures. Also included are modern works made in the form of devotional shrines: examples are personal shrines made according to New Age aesthetics and shrines designed as craft objects in themselves, made to display small trinkets or other objects without religious meaning. For large shrines, use "shrines (structures)." For relatively small shrines containing sacred relics, such as the relics of a saint, use "reliquaries."

Hier inbegrepen zijn persoonlijke heiligdommen voor de traditionele rituele en religieuze devotionele doeleinden, daterend uit de oudheid tot de moderne tijd in vele culturen. Ook inbegrepen zijn moderne werken, gemaakt in de vorm van devotionele heiligdommen: voorbeelden zijn persoonlijke heiligdommen gemaakt volgens de New Age esthetiek en heiligdommen ontworpen als op zich zelf staande ambachtelijke objecten, gemaakt om kleine snuisterijen of andere objecten zonder religieuze betekenis weer te geven. Voor grote heiligdommen, gebruik 'heiligdommen (bouwwerken).' Voor relatief kleine heiligdommen met heilige relikwieën, zoals de relieken van een heilige, gebruik 'reliquiaria.' |
