Note: A branch of landscape archaeology which emerged during the 1980’s in the context of historical restoration. Garden archaeology investigates diverse questions, from studies of natural history and rural economy to recovery of ancient garden layouts. Excavations at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens in Birmingham and at the Privy Garden of Hampton Court are examples of garden archaeology.

| Dutch ..... Een tak van de landschapsarcheologie die in de jaren '80 zijn intrede deed binnen de context van historische reconstructie. In de tuinarcheologie komen uiteenlopende onderwerpen aan bod, zoals natuurlijke geschiedenis en de economie van het platteland, maar ook de reconstructie van de opbouw van oude tuinen. Voorbeelden van deze vorm van archeologie zijn de opgravingen in Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens in Birmingham, en in de Privy Garden van Hampton Court. |
