Dutch ..... Verwijst naar lange zitmeubelen die van een rugleuning en meestal van armleuningen zijn voorzien. Ze zijn groot genoeg voor twee of meer personen. Tussen de termen 'rustbank' en 'sofa' wordt tegenwoordig vrijwel geen onderscheid gemaakt, maar er is wel degelijk een verschil: een rustbank is minder volledig bekleed dan een sofa, en soms ontbreekt de bekleding zelfs geheel. |
German ..... Bezeichnet eine lange Sitzgelegenheit mit Rücken- und üblicherweise auch Armlehnen; groß genug für zwei oder mehr Personen. Die Begriffe Sofa und Settee werden im [englischen] Sprachgebrauch des 20. Jahrhunderts praktisch synonym verwendet. Jedoch gibt es einen Unterschied zwischen beiden: ein Settee ist weniger hoch gepolstert als ein Sofa und kann sogar ungepolstert sein. |
