Note: A type of handmade drawing paper that was textured and of high quality. It was a laid paper with a surface having rows of narrow parallel ridges on one side and a rougher, bumpy surface on the other side. A paper of this name is still produced by the Ingres paper mill, but scholars debate whether this paper is the same paper that was so prized by Seurat and other 19th-century artists.

| Dutch ..... Soort handgemaakt tekenpapier waarin textuur werd aangebracht en dat van hoge kwaliteit was. Het was gelaagd papier met op het oppervlak rijen met smalle richeltjes aan de ene kant en een ruwer, bobbelig oppervlak aan de andere kant. Papier met deze naam wordt nog steeds gemaakt door de Ingres-papierfabriek, maar wetenschappers betwisten of het hier om hetzelfde papier gaat dat zo hogelijk werd gewaardeerd door Seurat en andere 19e-eeuwse kunstenaars. |
