Note: Complexes of buildings and other structures with machinery for generating electricity from various types of fuel, such as fossil fuels, nuclear, biomass, geothermal, and solar thermal energy sources. For individual buildings in which electricity, or other forms of power, are generated for the operation of machinery or vehicles, or supplying power to other buildings in a complex, use "powerhouses."
