Record Type: concept
barrier-grid prints (<photographs by processing or presentation technique>, <photographs by technique>, ... Visual and Verbal Communication (hierarchy name))

Note: Photographic or photomechanical prints in which a grid acts as a barrier to alternately reveal and obscure parts of the image, thereby creating the illusion of movement. Photographic prints of two or three phases of a depicted motion are assembled into one print. An animated picture is produced through a striped transparent overlay across the interlaced image. The order can also be reversed, with lined paper as the bottom layer, over which a transparent film with the photo is moved. It is the predecessor of the lenticular print. Examples include the Magic Moving Pictures card by G. Felsenthal & Co or the Ombro-Cinéma toys.

Additional Notes:
Dutch .....
