Note: The doctrine according to which the substances of both the body and blood of Christ and of the bread and wine coexist in the eucharistic elements after being consecrated. The concept is attributed to Luther, who was opposed to the doctrine of transubstantiation. Luther illustrated the concept with the analogy of an iron in a fire: the fire and the iron are united in the red-hot iron yet both are still present.

| Dutch ..... De doctrine volgens welke de substantie van het lichaam en het bloed van Christus en de substantie van het brood en de wijn naast elkaar aanwezig zijn in de eucharistische gedaanten na de consecratie. Het begrip wordt toegeschreven aan Luther, die zich verzette tegen de doctrine van de transsubstantiatie. Luther illustreerde zijn opvatting met de analogie van het ijzer in het vuur: het vuur en het ijzer zijn verenigd in het roodgloeiende ijzer maar toch zijn beide nog aanwezig. |
| Spanish ..... La doctrina según la que las substancias de ambos cuerpo y sangre de Cristo y del pan y el vino coexisten en los elementos eucarísticos después de consagrarse. El concepto se atribuye a Lutero que era contrario a la doctrina de la transubstantiation. Lutero ilustró el concepto con la analogía de un hierro en un fuego: el fuego y el hierro están todavía unidos en el hierro rojo-caliente y los dos todavía están presentes. |
