Note: Skin of a deer or other member of the cervid family, used especially for clothing, moccasins, and bookbinding leather. In early bookbinding, before the 16th century, the skin was either processed with lime or alum-tawed to make it white in appearance. For processed deerskin, use "buckskin" or "doeskin (skin)."

| Dutch ..... Huid van een hert of een andere hertachtige, voornamelijk gebruikt voor kleding, mocassins en boekbanden. In de vroege boekbindkunst, voor de 16de eeuw, werd de huid bewerkt met ongebluste kalk of aluingelooid om hem wit te maken. |
| Spanish ..... Piel de un ciervo u otro miembro de la familia cérvidos. Se usa en especial para ropa, mocasines y encuadernación. En las primeras encuadernaciones, antes del siglo XVI, la piel era procesada con cal o curtida en blanco con alumbre para darle aspecto blanco. |
