Note: A synthetic aniline dyestuff that was only the second synthetic dye material to be produced from coal tar derivatives. Magenta is a dark green water soluble powder that oxidizes to forms a deep purplish red fugitive dye used to color textiles, leather, and to stain bacteria. It was formerly used in watercolor paints but has since been replaced by colors with better lightfastness properties.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種合成的苯胺染料，是第二種自煤焦油衍生物製造的合成染料。為深綠、可溶於水之粉末，氧化會形成易褪色的深紫紅染料，用於紡織品和皮革的著色，也可將細菌染色。之前本來用於水彩顏料，不過自從有了耐光屬性更佳的顏料後，即被取代。 |
