Note: Flemish vessels used in the estuary of the river Scheldt for fishing, particularly of shrimp. Typically these had their home port in Antwerp and are mentioned by the 18th century. They disappeared from shipping by 1920. These usually were no longer than ten meters and had a rounded keel with a curved, upright bow, with a hold extending from the prow to the the mast.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Vlaams vissersvaartuig voor de garnalenvisserij en andere visserij op de Schelde. Knotsen hadden hun thuishaven in Antwerpen en worden reeds in de 18e eeuw vermeld. Ze zijn tegen 1920 uit de vaart verdwenen. Het is een rondgebouwd kielschip met gebogen, steilstaande voorsteven, een zwaar voorschip en een iets slanker achterschip.
