Te gebruiken voor eenmastzeilschepen die zijn voorzien van vlaktilling, een dek, een kajuit en meestal een driehoekig grootzeil en fok aan een smalle mast; er zijn een aantal exemplaren met twee masten of drie zeilen gebouwd; halverwege de 19e eeuw in Chesapeake Bay, in de Verenigde Staten, geïntroduceerd en meestal gebruikt voor de oestervangst. |
