Note: Small ancient Greek or Roman vessels for holding oils, ointments, or perfumes; usually elongated in form, almost cylindrical, and rounded at the bottom. Some footed examples also exist. They either have no handles or one small handle at the side. Alabastra are small enough to be held in one hand or it could be carried by a string looped around its narrow neck or passed through smal lugs on the shoulder. The shape originated in Egypt, where it was made in glass, faience, or alabaster (it takes its name from this stone).

| Arabic ..... أوعية يونانية أو رومانية قديمة صغيرة لحفظ الزيوت أو المراهم أو العطور؛ عادة ما تكون مستطيلة الشكل، وأسطوانية تقريبًا، ومستديرة من الأسفل. توجد أيضًا بعض الأمثلة لألباسترون بأقدام. كذلك ليس لديهم مقابض أو مقبض صغير واحد على الجانب. الألباسترا صغير بما يكفي لحمله بيد واحدة أو يمكن حمله بخيط يلتف حول رقبته الضيقة أو يمر عبر عروات صغيرة على الكتف. نشأ الشكل في مصر حيث كان يصنع من الزجاج أو الخزف أومن حجر الألباستر (يأخذ اسمه من هذا الحجر). |
| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種古希臘羅馬的小型器皿，用來裝油、軟膏或香水，其形多半細長且近似圓筒，底部呈圓形，也有些具有瓶足；可能沒有握把或在側邊有一小握把。雪花瓶的體積很小，單手就可握住，也可用繩子套住細窄瓶頸或穿過瓶肩上的凸耳以便攜帶。瓶子的形狀源自埃及，在當地是以玻璃、彩陶或雪花石膏製成，所用材料即為瓶子名稱的由來。 |
| Dutch ..... Kleine Oudgriekse of Romeinse vaten voor het bewaren van oliën, zalven of parfums; meestal langwerpig van vorm, bijna cilindrisch, en rond aflopend aan de onderkant. Ze hebben ofwel geen handvat ofwel één klein handvat aan de zijkant. Alabastra zijn zo klein dat ze in één hand konden worden gehouden en ook konden worden gedragen aan een touwtje dat ofwel door de smalle hals heen liep, ofwel door kleine lussen op de schouder werd gehaald. De vorm is oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit Egypte, waar de alabastra waren uitgevoerd in glas, faience of albast (de naam is van deze steen afgeleid). |
| Spanish ..... Pequeñas vasijas de la Antigua Grecia o Roma para guardar aceites, ungüentos o perfumes; generalmente de forma alargada, casi cilíndricas, y redondas en el extremo inferior. No tienen asas o tienen un asa pequeña lateral. |
