Note: The sixth of the seven main chronological phases recognized in Andean archaeology, generally dating ca. 1000-1450 CE, following the collapse of Middle Horizon empires, including Tiahuanaco and Huari. During this time distinctive regional cultures emerged along the coast and in highland areas, including the Chimú empire. The political entities that developed during the late Intermediate Period were subsequently conquered by the Inca empire. |

La sixième des sept phases chronologiques principales reconnues dans l’archéologie des Andes, généralement datée d’environ 1000-1450 CE, à la suite de l’effondrement des empires de l’Horizon moyen, dont Tiahuanaco et Huari. Au cours de cette période, des cultures régionales bien distinctes ont émergé le long de la côte et dans les régions montagneuses, dont l’empire Chimú. Les entités politiques apparues à la fin de la période intermédiaire furent ensuite conquises par l’empire inca. |
