Note: A natural brown clay earth pigment that contains iron and manganese oxides, silica, alumina, and lime; tending to be less orange-red than sienna. The term refers to the region of Umbria, Italy, although the pigment is found elsewhere in the world, notably on Cyprus. It has been used as a pigment since prehistoric times.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種天然的棕色黏土顏料，含有鐵、錳氧化物、矽石、礬土和石灰，顏色沒有赭土那麼橘紅。棕土的英文原詞umber意指義大利的翁布里亞區（Umbria），不過世界上還有其它地方能找到此顏料，特別是塞普勒斯。棕土自史前時代即被當作顏料使用。 |
| Dutch ..... Een natuurlijk bruine aardkleur die ijzer en mangaandioxiden, silica, aluminiumoxide en kalk bevat. Het is minder oranje-rood dan siënna. De term verwijst naar de regio Umbrië in Italië, maar het pigment is ook elders te vinden, met name op Cyprus. Het wordt al sinds de prehistorie gebruikt als pigment. |
