Note: Prints in which the image has been printed onto a thin sheet of paper, such as China paper; the thin sheet is then backed by a thicker sheet of paper. These prints usually date from the 19th century. They were prized because thin China paper received the intaglio impression readily, and the product had a richer appearance than a standard print. Over time, the two types of papers age differently, and conservation problems may result.

| Dutch ..... Prenten waarbij de afbeelding gedrukt is op een dun vel papier, bijvoorbeeld Chinees papier; het dunne vel wordt vervolgens met de achterkant op een dikker vel papier aangebracht. Deze prenten dateren gewoonlijk uit de 19e eeuw. Ze stonden hoog in aanzien omdat de intagliodruk goed doorkwam op het dunne Chinese papier en het product een levendiger beeld gaf dan een standaardprent. De veroudering verloopt anders bij de twee soorten papier, wat problemen kan geven met de conservering. |
