Note: Refers to carved wooden sculptures depicting stylized heads and necks of birds. The larger sized style features a very long, usually pointed beak and a face that may include features of a crocodilem, a horned figure, or a D'mba figure; the arching neck piece is mounted on a detachable spherical base. The other main style. is smaller, made from one piece of wood, is more compact,with a shorter beak, is less elaborately carved, and mounted on a concave base. They serve mainly as shrine pieces, representing both the Supreme God and the spiritual protector of the family lineage. Alternative uses are as dance headresses and divination implements for such rituals as male and female initiation and harvest, healing, judiciary, and funerary ceremonies.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 指雕有具特定風格的鳥類頭部與頸部的木雕，較大尺寸的特色是長而突出的鳥嘴和臉部，可能包含了鱷魚、有角動物或 豐產守護神盾巴（D'mba）形象；拱頸部安裝在一個可拆卸的球形基底上。其他主要的風格尺寸較小，用一塊木頭製成，較短的喙安裝在一個凹型基底上，雕刻較為簡單。主要作為聖物之用，象徵最崇高的神與祖先靈魂對子孫的庇佑。其他用途為舞蹈用頭飾和占卜器具，用於男女的成年禮和豐年祭、治療、審判和喪葬等儀式。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar uitgesneden houten beeldhouwwerken die gestileerde hoofden en halzen van vogels uitbeelden. Het grotere type bevat een erg lange, vaak puntige snavel en een gezicht dat soms de trekken vertoonde van een crocodilem, een gehoornde figuur of een D'mba-figuur. Het gebogen halsstuk is bevestigd aan een afneembare bolvormige basis. Het andere belangrijke type is kleiner, gemaakt uit een enkel stuk hout, meer compact, voorzien van een kortere snavel, minder gedetailleerd uitgesneden en bevestigd op een holronde basis. Ze dienen vooral als heiligdomstukken en stellen de Almachtige God en de geestelijke beschermer van het familiegeslacht voor.
