Note: Imagined or real point in space from which a viewer of an art work would look at an object or visual field. Compositions and perspectival systems in works of Western art are often designed with the viewer's point of view in mind. The meaning overlaps with "station point," although "station point" is more often used in reference to perspectival conventions of architectural drawings, while "viewpoint" is used to refer to all art forms.

| Dutch ..... Denkbeeldig of feitelijk punt in de ruimte van waaruit een beschouwer van een kunstwerk een object of gezichtsveld waarneemt. Bij het ontwerpen van composities en perspectivische systemen binnen de kunst van de westerse wereld is vaak rekening gehouden met het gezichtspunt van de beschouwer.
