Note: Refers to the angle at which a liquid or vapor makes contact with a solid surface. Contact angle quantifies the ability of a liquid to maintain contact with a solid surface. It is used, for example, as a measure of comparison for water droplets deposited on a flat stone surface before and after a water repellent coating has been applied to it, the difference in contact angle supplying information about surface hydrophobization.

De contacthoek kwantificeert het vermogen van een vloeistof om contact te houden met een massief oppervlak. Het begrip wordt bijvoorbeeld gebruikt als maat om waterdruppels te vergelijken die voor en na het aanbrengen van een waterafstotende laag op een plat stenen oppervlak zijn gedruppeld. Het verschil tussen de contacthoeken geeft informatie over de hydrofobisering van een oppervlak. |
