Note: A low, portable candleholder of a design reserved for a pope, cardinal, bishop, and certain abbots and other high-ranking prelates; usually made of silver, with a wide drip pan and ring or a long handle, which may store a spare candle. It is used to illuminate the liturgical books during pontifical services, and may bear the coat of arms of the pope.

| Dutch ..... Een lage, draagbare kaarshouder, gewoonlijk van zilver, met een brede druipring of een lang handvat waarin soms een reservekaars past. Men gebruikt ze om de liturgische boeken te verlichten tijdens pontificale diensten. Vaak zijn ze voorzien van het wapen van de voorlezer. Ze worden gebruikt door kardinalen, bisschoppen en bepaalde abten en andere hoge prelaten. |
| French ..... Bougeoir, généralement en argent, souvent à long manche, parfois creux pour contenir une bougie de réserve. Le bougeoir pontifical est tenu pour éclairer les livres liturgiques pendant les messes pontificales. Ce bougeoir est réservé aux cardinaux, aux évêques, à certains abbés et prélats de haut rang dont il peut porter les armoiries. |
| German ..... Ein niedriger, tragbarer Kerzenleuchter, in der Regel aus Silber gefertigt, mit einer großen Tropfschale und einem Ring oder langem Stiel, in dem sich eine Ersatzkerze befinden kann. Er wird dazu verwendet, während des Pontifikalamtes die liturgischen Bücher zu beleuchten und kann das Wappen des Lesenden tragen. Basso candeliere portatile, generalmente in argento, a volte decorato con le insegne di appartenenza, costituito da un piattello con un bocciolo centrale in cui si inserisce la candela e con un'impugnatura ad anello o con un lungo manico che, se cavo, contiene una candela di riserva. È destinato al cardinale, al vescovo o ad alcuni abati e prelati di alto rango. È utilizzata per illuminare i libri liturgici durante le funzioni pontificali. |

Candelero bajo, portátil, generalmente de plata, a veces decorado con las insignias de pertenencia, constituido por un platillo con un capullo central en el cual se inserta la vela y con una empuñadura en forma de anillo o con un mango largo que, si es hueco, contiene una vela de reserva. Es utilizado por el cardenal, obispo o algunos abades y prelados de alto rango para iluminar los libros litúrgicos durante las funciones pontificales. |
