Note: Metal plates on some sallets and armets, curving down over the skull to the line of the eyebrows and serving as extra protection for the forehead. Early forms first appearing before the middle of the 15th century consisted of a single heavy contoured plate, cusped and pointed, riveted to the skull; in the late 15th century a detachable form made of two plates was introduced and remained in use on German jousting helmets until the mid-16th century.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Metalen platen op bepaalde salades en gesloten helmen, die over de schedel heen buigen tot aan de rand van de wenkbrauwen en die dienen als extra bescherming van het voorhoofd. De eerste typen uit de eerste helft van de 15e eeuw bestonden uit één zware, gebogen, gepunte plaat, die was vastgeklonken aan de schedel van de helm. Tegen het einde van de 15e eeuw werd een afneembare vorm, gemaakt van twee platen, ingevoerd die tot halverwege de 16e eeuw in gebruik bleef op Duitse toernooihelmen. 
German ..... Metallplatte an manchen Schallern und Armets, die sich über den Schädel bis zu den Augenbrauen krümmt und als zusätzlicher Stirnschutz dient. Frühe, vor der Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts auftauchende Formen bestanden aus einer einzigen, stark geschwungenen Platte mit Höckern und Spitzen, die an die Haube angenietet war; im späten 15. Jahrhundert kam eine abnehmbare Form auf, die aus zwei Platten bestand und an deutschen Turnierhelmen bis in die Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts in Gebrauch war. 
Spanish ..... Placas curvadas sobre el cráneo a la altura de la línea de las cejas y sirviendo como protección adicional para la frente. Este tipo de formas aparecen durante la primera parte del siglo XV, consistiendo en una sola placa contorneada pesada y clavadas; en el siglo XVI se trabajo con dos placas independientes.
