Note: In Ethiopian culture, parchment scrolls upon which various taslismanic images and texts, often prayers, are inscribed, generally by clerics in complex rituals. Their purpose is in healing ceremonies. Sick people focus on the scroll, and enter into a healing trance by which they are cured; they may wear the scrolls for a time. The images that appear on the scrolls range from Jewish, Christian, and Islamic religious symbols, the story of King Solomon, lions, birds, and abstract talismanic patterns to the most frequently depicted symbols, large, colorfully-rendered eyes.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 衣索匹亞文化裡，刻有各類避邪圖像及文字的羊皮紙卷軸，且通常由教會神職人員於儀式上題寫祈願，主要用於治療儀式。病人先將注意力集中於卷軸上，然後進入催眠狀態，獲得痊癒；病人也可能將卷軸穿戴於身。卷軸上的圖像包括猶太、基督及回教的符號，如所羅門國王的故事、獅子、鳥禽，以及抽象的避邪圖案，還有常見的符號，如大眼睛彩繪。 |
| Dutch ..... In de Ethiopische cultuur, perkamenten rollen waarop diverse als talisman bedoelde afbeeldingen en teksten, veelal gebeden, worden geïnscribeerd, meestal door geestelijken tijdens complexe rituelen. De rollen zijn bedoeld voor gebruik bij genezingsceremonieën. Door zich op de rol te concentreren komen zieken in een genezingstrance die hen van hun ziekte moet verlossen; soms dragen ze de rollen ook een tijdje. De afbeeldingen op de rollen kunnen religieuze symbolen van joodse, christelijke of islamitische oorsprong zijn, of betrekking hebben op het verhaal van koning Salomon, maar afbeeldingen van leeuwen, vogels of abstracte talismanpatronen worden ook aangetroffen; het vaakst afgebeeld echter worden grote, kleurig uitgevoerde ogen. |

Su propósito es para ceremonias de sanación. Gente enferma se concentra en el rollo y entra en un trance de sanación por medio del cual son sanados; ellos pueden usar los rollos por un tiempo. Las imágenes que aparecen en los rollos van desde símbolos religiosos judios, cristianos e islámicos, la historia del Rey Salomón, leones, aves y motivos de talismanes abstractos son los símbolos representados más frecuentes, hasta grandes, razgados y coloreados ojos. |
