| Dutch ..... Uurwerken die gelijke tijdvakken afmeten aan de beweging van zand of een andere vrij stromende, fijnkorrelige substantie door een nauwe opening tussen twee driehoekige of kegelvormige glazen bollen die met de openingen naar elkaar toe zijn geplaatst; ze werden waarschijnlijk geïntroduceerd aan het begin van de 14e eeuw en toen vooral gebruikt om de tijd bij te houden op schepen. |

Chronometer, das gleiche Zeitperioden misst, indem Sand oder eine andere feinkörnige Substanz durch eine enge Öffnung zwischen zwei gegenüberliegenden, dreieckigen oder konischen Glasgefäßen herabfällt; wahrscheinlich im frühen 14. Jahrhundert aufgekommen und dann insbesondere auf Schiffen zur Zeitmessung verwendet. |
