Note: Refers to art created or collected according to a philosophy of avoidance of the conventional fine art tradition. The concept generally refers to art that fits the ideal described by Jean Dubuffet, who posited that art should be inventive, non-conformist, unprocessed, spontaneous, insulated from all social and cultural influences, "brut," created without thought of financial gain or public recognition, and based upon autonomous inspiration, in direct contrast to the stereotypes of the traditional or official artistic culture. Dubuffet sought such art in the work of psychiatric patients and other insulated individuals. It is generally distinct from "naive art," which is created by those without formal training, but not necessarily in accordance with the principles described above. It is also typically distinct from "folk art," which is made according to the rules and traditions of a particular culture. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 指的是以刻意迴避正統訓練的主線思想而進行創作或收藏。這個概念一般指的是符合尚‧杜布菲 (Jean Dubuffet1901-1985) 所描述的理想,他主張藝術應該是具創造力的,非遵循舊規的,未經加工的,自然流露的,隔絕於所有社會與文化影響之外,「未經雕琢的」,沒有考慮到名或利,基於自主靈感創作出來,完全對立於傳統的或正式的有關藝術活動的刻板印象。杜布菲追求的作品,一如精神病患與其他被囚禁隔離者的作品。這類藝術一般有別於未經正式訓練的藝術家所創作的「素人藝術(naive art)」,其創作原則未必符合上述條件。這類藝術通常也有別於根據特定文化的原則與傳統所創作的「民間藝術(folk art)」。 |

Portuguese ..... Refere-se à arte criada ou coletada de acordo com uma filosofia de evitar a tradição convencional das belas artes. O conceito geralmente se refere à arte que se encaixa no ideal descrito por Jean Dubuffet, que postulava que a arte deveria ser inventiva, inconformista, não processada, espontânea, isolada de todas as influências sociais e culturais, "brut", criada sem pensar em ganho financeiro ou reconhecimento público, e baseado em inspiração autônoma, em contraste direto com os estereótipos da cultura artística tradicional ou oficial. Dubuffet buscou tal arte no trabalho de pacientes psiquiátricos e outros indivíduos isolados. É geralmente distinta da "arte ingênua", que é criada por aqueles sem treinamento formal, mas não necessariamente de acordo com os princípios descritos acima. Também é tipicamente distinto da "arte popular", que é feita de acordo com as regras e tradições de uma determinada cultura. |

El término fue acuñado en 1940 y generalmente se refiere al arte que encaja en el ideal descrito por Jean Dubuffet, que postulaba que el arte debía ser inventivo, inconformista, natural, espontáneo, aislado de todas las influencias sociales y culturales, "bruto", creado sin pensar en la ganancia financiera o reconocimiento público, y basado en inspiración autónoma, en contraste directo a los estereotipos de la cultura artística tradicional u oficial. Dubuffet buscó tal arte en el trabajo de pacientes psiquiátricos y en otro aislo a individuos.
