Note: Species of birch tree abundant throughout northern Europe, Iceland, northern Asia, and Greenland. It is a deciduous tree growing to over 60 feet tall (18 m), with a slender crown and a trunk, having smooth dull gray-white bark finely marked with dark horizontal lenticels. It is closely related to, and often confused with the silver birch.

| Dutch ..... Soort berk die veel voorkomt in Noord-Europa, IJsland, Noord-Azië en Groenland. Het is een loofboom die meer dan 18 meter hoog kan worden, met een slanke kroon en een stam met een zachte, doffe grijs-witte schors met een fijne markering van donkere, horizontale lenticellen. De soort is nauw verwant aan de zilverberk en wordt hier vaak mee verward. |
