Note: Family containing 15 genera and 55 species of mackerels, tunas, and bonitos, having two dorsal fins, a series of finlets between the rear dorsal fin and behind the anal fin, a caudal fin that is strongly divided and rigid, with a slender, ridged, base. They are generally fast predators in the open ocean. Some members of the family warm-blooded, such as the tuna. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 含十五屬五十五種鯖魚、鮪魚及鰹魚的科。鯖科魚類擁有兩個腹鰭,在後腹鰭與臀鰭之間,以及臀鰭後方都有一組小鰭。其尾鰭分叉明顯且堅韌,尾鰭基則細瘦呈彎月形。在開放的海洋中為行動快速的掠食者。鮪魚等部份鯖科魚類為恆溫動物。 |
Dutch ..... Familie bestaande uit 15 genera van 55 soorten makrelen, tonijnen en bonito's met twee rugvinnen, een aantal vinnetjes van de achterste rugvin tot achter de anale vin, en een staartvin die sterk verdeeld en stijf is met een slanke gekamde onderkant. Ze zijn in het algemeen snelle roofvissen in open zee. Sommige leden van de familie, zoals de tonijn, zijn warmbloedig. |
