Note: Semi-transparent liquid obtained from the gall bladders of cattle. Used in cleaning, painting, and formerly for medicinal purposes. Contains sodium choleate salts (taurochloate and glycochloate) with some cholesterol, lecithin, and other substances. Examples of use include as a wetting agent in watercolor, in marbling, engraving, lithography, textile dyeing, and as a plasticizer in glue-paste mixtures. |

Dutch ..... Bevochtigingsmiddel in aquarelverf. |
German ..... Halbtransparente Flüssigkeit aus der Gallenblase von Rindern gewonnen und als Wässerungsmittel in Aquarellen verwendet. Ochsengalle enthält natriumchloride Salze (Taurocholate und Glycochloate) mit etwas Cholesterin, Lecithin und anderen Naturprodukten. Ochsengalle wird getrocknet und pulverisiert, dann zur Verwendung mit Wasser oder Ethanol gemischt. Es ist ein wirksames, natürliches Wässerungsmittel, das in der Aquarellmalerei verwendet wird, um die Geschmeidigkeit zu erleichtern. Ochsengalle wird auch in Marmorierungsarbeiten, bei der Gravur in der Lithographie und Textilfärbung eingesetzt. Es wurde als Weichmacher in Klebepasten verwendet. |
