Note: Genus of rattan palms native mainly to the tropics and subtropics of southeastern Asia. The stems are harvest for their cores, which is used for canes and furniture. The fruits of certain species produce a red resin that is one source for "dragon's blood," used for medicine and varnish. The seeds of some species are harvested for the production of Buddhist prayer beads.

| Dutch ..... Genus van rotanpalmen die hoofdzakelijk in de tropische en subtropische gebieden van Zuidoost-Azië inheems zijn. De stammen worden geoogst voor hun kern, die wordt gebruikt voor de vervaardiging van wandelstokken en meubilair. De vruchten van bepaalde soorten produceren een rode hars die als bron dient voor 'drakenbloed', dat als geneesmiddel en als lak wordt gebruikt. De zaden van sommige soorten worden geoogst voor de productie van Boeddhistische gebedskralen. |
