| Dutch ..... Genus dat circa 100 soorten heesters en bomen omvat die voorkomen in de gematigde temperatuurzones van het noordelijk halfrond. De schors heeft een donkere kleur en is vaak voorzien van stekels, en de bladeren zijn donkergroen en ovaal. Veel soorten hebben een schors waaruit een gele kleurstof wordt gewonnen, terwijl de kleine zwarte vruchten als laxeermiddel worden gebruikt. |
