Note: Stylized floral motif based on the palmette (of ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman art), which was seen by 18th-century architects and craftsmen to resemble flowers of the European honeysuckle, species Lonicera periclymenum. The honeysuckle motif is seen most often in architecture and furniture decoration. It is symmetrical with three or more curved members radiating from each side of a long central petal; it differs from the palmette in generally having thinner members.

Decoratief gestileerd bloemenmotief dat voor het eerst werd toegepast in Oudegyptische en Oudgriekse ontwerpen, en later in Romeins, Europees en Amerikaans werk; wordt meestal aangetroffen als decoratie van bouwwerken en meubilair. Het kamperfoeliemotief is symmetrisch en bestaat uit drie of vijf gebogen uitlopers die aan iedere zijde van een langgerekt centraal bloemblad ontspringen; het verschil met een palmet is dat het kamperfoeliemotief meestal dunnere uitlopers heeft. |
