Note: Case furniture on low legs, popular during the Victorian period. It is characterized by being divided in half vertically, with one half comprising shelves enclosed by a wooden or glass-fronted door, for the storage of books, dishes, or curiosities, and the other side often comprising a secretary, cabinet, or some combination of mirror, drawers, and fold-down desk top. Distinguished from a chifforobe, which is case furniture also divided vertically, but typically characterized by placement in a bedroom, having a narrow clothes closet on one side, and a narrow chest of drawers with a mirror on the other side. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 低櫃腳的櫥櫃家具,英國維多利亞女王時代十分流行。特色為左右兩櫃,一半有層架並佐以木製或玻璃門,用於存放書籍、碗盤或珍貴物品;另一半則為秘書櫃或結合鏡子、抽屜和折疊書桌台的櫃子。和「兩用衣櫥」不同,雖然「兩用衣櫥」也分為左右兩半,卻是放置於房間的家具,一邊為窄小衣櫃,另一邊則為附鏡子的窄小抽屜櫃。 |
Dutch ..... Kasten op lage poten die in het victoriaanse tijdperk populair waren. De kast is verticaal in tweeën gedeeld, waarbij het ene deel bestaat uit planken met een houten of glazen deur ervoor, bedoeld voor boeken, borden of curiosa, en het andere deel uit een secretaire, een kabinet of een combinatie van een spiegel, laden en een neerklapbaar tafelblad. Te onderscheiden van chifforobes: kasten die ook verticaal in tweeën zijn gedeeld, maar die meestal in slaapkamers worden gebruikt, met een smal gedeelte voor kleren aan de ene kant en laden en een spiegel aan de andere kant. |
