carbon fiber (synthetic fiber, fiber, ... Materials (hierarchy name)) |
|
Note: Very strong lightweight synthetic fiber made especially by carbonizing acrylic fiber at high temperatures. It contains at least 92% carbon and generally has excellent tensile properties, low densities, high thermal and chemical stabilities in the absence of oxidizing agents, good thermal and electrical conductivities, and excellent creep resistance. Carbon fiber has been extensively used in composite materials. |
