Note: Technology or craft of modelling clay which is then hardened into pottery and stoneware by heating in a kiln or the sun. Ceramics is used as a collective term for all materials made by heating clay. These include pottery, stoneware and porcelain, depending on the type of clay and the temperature at which they were baked. The results of pottery can be utilitarian objects, or purely decorative objects.

Keramiek wordt gebruikt als verzamelnaam voor alle door verhitting gemaakte materialen van klei. Hieronder vallen aardewerk, steengoed en porselein, afhankelijk van de soort klei en de temperatuur waarop deze werden vervaardigd. De resultaten van het pottenbakken kunnen gebruiksvoorwerpen zijn, of puur decoratieve voorwerpen. |
