Note: Pantropical genus containing around 150 species of flowering plants. Together with the African Cola genus (125 species), was part of the former family Sterculiaceae, whose members were noted for having separate male and female flowers borne in often quite large and branched inflorescences.

| Dutch ..... Pantropisch genus van ongeveer 150 soorten bloeiende planten. Maakte samen met het Afrikaanse genus Cola (125 soorten) deel uit van de voormalige familie Sterculiaceae. De soorten die in deze familie werden ingedeeld, hebben aparte mannelijke en vrouwelijke bloemen in vaak tamelijk grote en vertakte trossen bloemen. |
