Note: Hindu concept of the collapse of the three main Hindu gods, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, into a single form with three faces. Some scholars consider the trimurti as a way to reconcile different monotheistic approaches with one another and with the concept of ultimate reality (Brahman) since the trimurti manifests the cosmic functions of the Supreme Being. The trimurti was classically expressed in the poem 'Kumarasambhava' by Kalidasa (ca. 4th-5th century).

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 意指三位一組的印度教主神─梵天(Brahma)、毗濕奴(Vishnu)，以及濕婆(Shiva)。有些學者認為，由於三相神代表神在宇宙的各種作用，故可藉此將各個一神論調和一致，且配合最終真理(Brahman, 婆羅門)的概念，達到相互協調的關係。毗濕奴象徵保護，濕婆象徵破壞，而梵天為這兩個對立力量之間的平衡。迦梨陀娑(Kalidasa, 西元四至五世紀)所作的《鳩摩羅出世(Kumarasambhava)》一詩中闡述三相神之處蔚為經典。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een drie-eenheid van de belangrijkste hindoegoden Brahma, Vishnu en Shiva. Sommige geleerden vatten de Trimurti op als een manier om verschillende monotheïstische benaderingen met elkaar en met het (brahmaanse) begrip 'ultieme realiteit' te verzoenen, omdat de Trimurti de kosmische functies van het Opperwezen manifesteert. Brahma vertegenwoordigt het evenwicht tussen de tegengestelde krachten van instandhouding en vernietiging, die respectievelijk worden vertegenwoordigd door Vishnu en Shiva. Algunos estudiosos consideran los Trimurti como una manera de reconciliar diferentes acercamientos monoteístas entre si y con el concepto de última realidad (Brahman) dado que Trimurtlas manifiesta las funciones cósmicas del Ser Supremo. Brahma representa el equilibrio entre las fuerzas contrarias de preservación y destrucción, representadas respectivamente por Vishnu y Shiva.
