Note: The most common technique for converting analog signals into digital form, involving sampling. Pulse Code Modulation is not a universally accepted standard, but rather a technique used in a variety of applications from telephony to CD production. CD quality music is sampled generally at 44.1 kHz at 32 bits per sample.
