Note: Fluid secreted by the lacrimal apparatus. Tears, along with other secretions, help form the protective, precorneal film on the exterior of the eye. Tears can be reflexly secreted in response to a variety of stimuli (bright lights, etc.). The secretion of tears as a result of emotional upset is called psychical weeping.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 淚器所分泌的液體，眼淚與其他的分泌物，可幫助形成眼睛外部防護的角膜前淚膜。因應各種的刺激（如強光等），眼淚會反射性的分泌。由於情緒不佳而分泌眼淚，稱為精神性流淚。 |
| Dutch ..... Vloeistof die wordt afgescheiden door het traanapparaat. Samen met andere afscheidingen vormen tranen een beschermende, precorneale laag aan de buitenkant van het oog. Tranen kunnen reflexmatig worden afgescheiden als reactie op verschillende stimuli (zoals fel licht). De afscheiding van tranen als gevolg van emotionele verstoring wordt 'huilen' genoemd. |
