Dutch ..... Te gebruiken voor snelle, krachtige zeevarende vaartuigen, meestal als schoener of brik getuigd, met een scherp gat, lange achterscheg, een middelmatige tot geprononceerde stromingsweerstand en een grote vlaktilling; zijn in de eerste helft van de 19e eeuw gebouwd en waren vaak betrokken bij illegale zaken, zoals smokkel of slavernij, of als recherchevaartuig om smokkelaars te vangen. |
Spanish ..... Embarcación rápida y poderosa, de trayecto marítimo, por lo general una goleta o bergantín, con una entrada elegante, draga de moderada a pronunciada y una firme astilla muerta. Construido en la primera mitad del siglo XIX y frecuentemente implicado en comercios ilegales, tanto de contrabando como de esclavos, también se utilió como barco para tratar de capturar a los contrabandistas. |
