Note: Steel, containing carbon, manganese, and small amounts of other elements, characterized by high strength and corrosion resistance. Exposure to air creates a pebbly, rusty-looking surface that works to reduce corrosion; this surface film turns a deep purple-brown after a number of years which is why high-strength low-alloy steel is sometimes used for exposed structural members of buildings.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種含碳、錳及少量其他元素的鋼，其特徵為具高強度和高抗腐蝕性。若暴露在空氣中，會產生礫狀突起並呈生銹狀的表面，此種反應具有減少腐蝕的功能，表面所生成之薄膜在許多年後會轉為深紫棕色，因此部分建築物會以高強度低合金鋼做為建築物外露結構支柱的材料 |
| Dutch ..... Staal dat koolstof, mangaan en kleine hoeveelheden van andere elementen bevat, en zeer sterk en corrosiebestendig is. Door contact met de lucht ontstaat een kiezelachtig, roestig uitziend oppervlak dat helpt corrosie te verminderen; deze oppervlaktelaag verkleurt na een aantal jaar naar een diep paarsbruin, waardoor deze staalsoort soms wordt gebruikt voor zichtbare structuuronderdelen van gebouwen. |
| Spanish ..... Acero que contiene carbono, manganeso y pequeñas cantidades de otros elementos, caracterizado por su alta resistencia mecánica y resistencia a la corrosión. La exposición al aire genera una superficie granulosa que semeja herrumbre, pero que actúa reduciendo la corrosión. Esta película superficial se vuelve de un marrón violeta profundo después de algunos años, por lo cual el acero de baja aleación y alta resistencia se utiliza a veces en las partes estructurales expuestas de los edificios.
